Website Care & Hosting Terms

These terms cover our website care and hosting plans. They explain what a plan includes, what counts as an update, and how hosting, billing and cancelling work.

Effective date: September 29, 2026
Last updated: September 29, 2026

What these terms cover

A care and hosting plan is an ongoing service rather than a one-off project. We host your website, look after the technical side and handle small updates as your plan provides.

These terms sit alongside our Terms of Service, which is where liability and the other general points are covered. Where your own proposal, order or written agreement says something different from this page, your agreement controls.

What your plan includes

What you get depends on your plan. Care and hosting can cover:

  • Hosting and serving your website.
  • Software updates for the platform your site runs on.
  • Keeping your site’s security certificate valid.
  • Backups, security and monitoring, as your plan provides.
  • Small technical fixes when something breaks.
  • Time for website updates.
  • Someone to email with website questions.

Your agreement says which of these you have. If you are not sure whether something is covered, ask us and we’ll tell you.

How your plan is decided

Your plan name, price, billing cycle and any included update time come from your own proposal, order, subscription, invoice or written agreement with us. That paperwork is the authority on what you pay and what you receive. This page describes how the service works in general.

The plans are Essential, Managed and Care+, plus Legacy, a grandfathered plan held by longer-standing clients. Two clients on care plans do not necessarily have the same thing.

Website updates

Where your plan includes time for updates, that means small changes to a site that already exists: text edits, swapping an image, updating links, hours or contact details, small styling tweaks, and routine content and configuration changes.

Update time counts the work we do, not the number of requests. If something looks likely to run past the time your plan includes, we tell you before we start and wait for your go-ahead.

Included update time resets at the start of each billing cycle. Unused time does not roll over into the next cycle unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

Work that needs a separate estimate

Some work is a project even when it arrives as a short email. Where it is work we take on, we scope it, quote it and agree it with you first. Where it is not something we do, we say so.

  • A new website or a redesign.
  • Significant new pages or features.
  • E-commerce.
  • Custom development and integrations.
  • Moving your site to a new platform, host or domain.
  • Branding, copywriting, photography and video.
  • Large SEO projects, advertising management and campaigns.
  • Substantial accessibility work.

Our services pages describe the project work we take on.

Billing

Plans are billed in advance on the cycle in your agreement. Where you have authorised recurring payment, it repeats automatically at the start of each cycle until the plan is cancelled.

Billing runs through the invoicing or payment provider named on your invoice, under that provider’s own terms. You cannot pay through this website, and we do not take card payments here. Fees do not include any taxes that apply.

If a payment fails

We let you know and try again. If it stays unpaid we may pause update work, and after that we may suspend the service until the invoice is paid. Suspending the service does not cancel what is owed.

Cancelling

You can cancel before your next billing date, unless your agreement sets a notice period or a minimum term. To cancel, email info@8wardmarketing.com.

Fees already paid cover the current period, and they are not prorated or refunded unless your agreement says otherwise. Cancelling stops future service and future billing. Unused update time has no cash value.

If we ever need to end a plan, we tell you in good time and help you move.

Hosting after cancellation

Care and hosting is a managed service, so the hosting we provide ends when the plan does. We give you a reasonable transition period and tell you the date your site will stop being served. After that date we may remove your site and its backups from our systems, so download anything you want to keep before then.

Your domain

A domain registered in your name is yours, and we will not withhold it. Where you hold the registration, you keep it current unless we have agreed to manage it for you. A lapsed domain can be hard or impossible to get back, and the registrar sets those rules.

Where we hold or manage a domain for you, we transfer or release it on your written request, subject to the registrar’s transfer rules.

Moving your website

If you move to another provider, we give you reasonable help along with your content, your files and the information your new provider needs. Migration or export work beyond ordinary account closure may be billable, and we quote it before we start. Some platforms limit what can be exported, which is not something we control.

Backups, security and uptime

We follow reasonable backup and security practices for the sites we host, and where your plan includes monitoring we watch whether your site is responding so we hear about trouble sooner.

None of that is a guarantee. Hosting depends on networks, platforms and providers we do not control, so we cannot promise 100% uptime, or that a backup will always be available and restorable, or that any website is immune from attack or compromise. When something does go wrong, we take reasonable steps to put it right and keep you posted.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose, including original files for content you send us. And a care plan is not a promise about search rankings, traffic, leads or any other business result.

Third-party services

Your site and your plan depend on services we do not own: hosting platforms, domain registrars and DNS, email delivery, analytics, plugins and other software, and any integrations your site uses. Their own terms apply to you where you hold the account. We do not control their performance, pricing or policies, and when one of them changes or retires something, your site may need work to keep up.

Ownership

Your content, your trademarks and your domain are yours. Final deliverables for your project transfer to you as your project agreement provides.

We keep our own tools: the reusable components, code, systems and infrastructure we bring to the work. Looking after your site does not transfer those to you, and we use them on other projects.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and our prices can change. If your price changes, we email you first and the new price starts from a later billing cycle, so you can cancel before it applies.

The current version of this page is always the one here, with the effective date at the top. If a change affects your plan in a way that matters to you, we give you reasonable notice by email, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
